Requirements:

Auditions for the symphony are open to players of all symphonic instruments (strings, winds, brass, and percussion) who wish to play in a symphonic setting. Instrumentalists are admitted according to the availability of those instrumental positions. It is preferable for the student to have at least one year playing experience or be able to perform at a book two level or higher. Less experienced players will be considered on a case by case basis. It is also important for the student to be able to comfortably read music.

All players must be taking private lessons; it does not have to be through CYSA. Mr. Fizzell offers private lessons to stings players.

Beginners who wish to start lessons will be incorporated in the symphony as Mr. Fizzell deems them able.

Instrumentalists should prepare a short piece that demonstrates their best playing. Auditions are relaxed and comfortable and include the parent(s).
